By Sufia Rahman – An accredited Therapeutic Counsellor
Starting counselling can feel like a big step. You may be feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or wondering whether therapy is right for you. As a counsellor my aim is to offer you a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can begin to explore what’s going on for you at your own pace.
My name is Sufia Rahman, I am a qualified and accredited Therapeutic Counsellor working with young people, adults, and couples. I offer counselling in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and West London, as well as online therapy, providing both short-term and long-term counselling depending on what feels most helpful for you.

Relationships can face challenges at many stages. With my specialist Diploma in Couples Counselling, I offer a supportive space where partners can work together to explore and navigate these difficulties. You may be moving in together and experiencing fears or uncertainty around commitment, or facing challenges such as ongoing conflict, trust issues, affairs, or navigating complex relationship dynamics, including polygamy or perhaps exploring pre-martial counselling.
As a South Asian multilingual therapist, I bring lived understanding and professional insight into the complexities that can arise within cultural, family, and community contexts. I am offering sessions in English, Hindi, and Urdu. For some clients, working with a therapist who understands their cultural background, heritage, and traditions can feel particularly important. My therapy sessions offer a safe and reflective space where these experiences can be explored and acknowledged alongside any concerns you may wish to bring.
Why choose counselling?
People seek counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, isolation, or emotional overwhelm. You might be navigating cultural dilemmas, stigma, relationship difficulties, or distressing mental health experiences. Counselling offers a supportive, calm environment to explore these experiences, gain clarity, and work towards emotional balance.
My approach to therapy
I take a holistic and client centred approach, tailoring therapy to you as an individual or as a couple. Whether we work face-to-face or online our sessions focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, collaboration, and compassion, giving you space to explore openly and honestly.
With over six years’ experience working in adult mental health and the charity sector, my background includes school and college counsellor, supporting postnatal women’s group, working with a human trafficking charity, volunteering with youth and domestic violence agencies, and private practice. I am fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate for both adults and children.
Taking the first step
Reaching out for counselling is a brave decision and taking the first step towards counselling can feel challenging. You don’t have to go through this on your own, support is here when you are ready. I offer a free telephone consultation so you can ask questions, share what’s on your mind, and see whether working together feels right with no pressure or obligation.
